The Quranic concept of divorce states that a wife either be returned to her husband or "released (divorced) in kindness." In practice, women who divorce in Bahrain often find themselves facing an uphill struggle to retain custody of their children, a home and the means to sustain themselves. This is all set to change if the Bahrain Women's Association for Human Development have their way. The Association is certainly having its say in a series of three seminars on Women: A New Paradigm, the most recent of which focused on improving Bahraini women’s rights to equality during and after divorce.
