Amar Singh Tells India a Muslim Prime Minister is Needed

Amar Singh is not the only Indian man to note the disadvantaged situation many Indian Muslims find themselves in, but he is one of the only politicians who has spoken up on it in recent years. In a sweeping gesture, the (former) Samajwadi Party leader stated that a Muslim Indian Prime Minister was needed if a true apology were to be made to India’s Muslim community. Not surprisingly, this announcement, which accompanied the politician’s resignation speech caused ripples not just beyond but als within India’s Muslim community, which represents the largest Muslim minority anywhere in the world and one of the most impoverished.
