The world is small, my friends, and we're all oh-so-international these days. Case in point, to name but one? Turkish Muslim glove designer Lamia Akar. This multi-talented Turkish woman embarked on an illustrious career in TV journalism in Germany, which saw her land in New York to cover the events of 9/11. So strong was the impact upon her that she put down the camera forever and switched to making gloves. The designs that come out of her Manhattan studio now grace the fingers of the famous, from Cindy Lauper to Lady Gaga. Lamia talks to LoveHabibi about Turkey, trading places and what it's like to be a Muslim woman in the fast-paced and fickle fashion world.
