Sleepless in Kuala Lumpur? Women’s clothing might be the cause, at least, that’s what one Muslim cleric and his party claim. Like in many other major Muslim cities, fashion is fusing in the Malaysian capital. The new influx of figure-hugging attire acquired and worn by a growing number of young Kuala Lumpun women is being blamed for distracting men from prayer and depriving them of sleep. Controversial cleric and opposition party leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, took it upon himself to tell Malaysian women how to dress – and modest is in his eyes, the new black. Women and women’s right groups from Kuala Lumpur and across Malaysia’s 13 states are naturally, not impressed.
