Pomak singing legend Valya Mladenova Balkanska is one of the most vibrant and resonant voices in Bulgarian Muslim music that ever lived. Her repertoire of 300 traditional Rhodopean folksongs offers a melodic journey through Muslim history in her native Bulgaria. Not only has her music travelled the four corners of the globe, but has boldly gone where no Pomak has been before: into space… Valya’s rendition of Izlel e Delyu Haydutin made it onto the 19977 Voyager compilations.
