In India, inter-caste and intercommunity love and marriage have been legal since 1872 – almost a century before interracial marriages became legal in all 50 U.S states. Nevertheless, harmony isn’t always automatic between Indian families and a loophole in the law has made it possible for parents to embargo these unions. The power of love is not to be underestimated and some young Indians today are choosing to elope as their feelings for each other outweigh the obstacles. Not surprisingly, these lovebirds are being dubbed “The Romeos and Juliets of India.”

The times they are a changing in India. Indian Marriage ain't quite what is used to be - tired of being tied to tradition, young Indian men today are flocking to the Internet in the hope of finding a soul mate. Internet dating, or rather, potential marriage browsing is one of India's most modern and rapidly spreading cultures. Without the religious and social mores of the past, Indian marriage is open to the choice of the individual, and as the online dating sites and chat rooms fill in the hope of being hit by Cupid's digital arrow Thankfully, the country's dense population which now exceeds a billion, means there's ample choice for young Indian men and women surfing in search of a perfect modern marriage to their Mr or Ms. Right.
