Destiny Brings Two Together: Case of Queen Noor and Carlos Slim

by Samira on December 3, 2009

Let me start by saying, I’m not one for gossip, but when I recently came across an article about Queen Noor of Jordan and her newly found romance with the world’s third riches man, Carlos Slim, something sparked an interest.

Carlos Slim and Queen Noor

When I come across these types of stories, I tend to look at them from a particular angle; how did, or how do people find each other and what is it that truly connects them. Is it something spiritual and something that we can’t explain, or is it something worldly and material? And albeit a relationship between two people should remain a private affair, in the world of the rich and powerful, it unfortunately takes a course of its own, Queen Noor and Carlos Slim presenting no exception.

Carlos Slim

According to several sources, such as an article in New York Post and in El Universal, the Mexican billionaire fell in love with the Jordanian Queen sometime last year, and now sources close to both have confirmed rumors that the couple believe to be soul mates destined to be together. Here’s something interesting you might not have known: Queen Noor and Slim both lost their spouses on consecutive days. Queen Noor’s late husband, King Hussein died on February 9, 1999, and the following day Slim’s wife past away. Interesting. Was it a freak coincidence or destiny?

According to Forbes.com, the Mexican telecom titan Carlos Slim holds a net worth of $35 billion.  And even though Queen Noor was deprived of her royal title by King Abdullah, she has still remained cherished and popular among royal circles.

Queen Noor

Not many people are aware that Slim’s father, Julián Slim Haddad, emigrated from Lebanon in 1902 and settled in Mexico. Carlos himself was born in Mexico City. Queen Noor on the other hand is an American of Lebanese, Syrian, British and Swedish descent. Their shared cultural identity and a common desire to support a variety of philanthropic activities no doubt unites the two.

I guess, at the end of every pondering, I tend to come to the same conclusion: The way by which two people’s hearts and lives come together remains an individual and private matter. But it still doesn’t change my fascination to try and understand destiny and fate as I see it happenening. And in the case of Carlos Slim and Queen Noor, I think the question whether or not they are united by their wealth, their status, their cultural heritage or the course of events in their lives, will remain unanswered. But as a true believer in destiny, I’d like to think that maybe it was a combination of all which created the harmony.

“Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice: It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.” – William Jennings Bryan

What do you think? Do you think two people come together with the help of fate, or do you think reason and choice govern our lives? Tell us about it.

The statement:

“(Their) common desire to support a variety of philanthropic activities” does not take into account that Slim has declared that he is no interested in being a philanthropic but a business man.

Being a business man is what has convert him in one of the richest man in the world living in (and from) a country where 50% of the population is poor.

Not yet amazed?. Check how many years it took him to become a unimaginable successful man.

Bravo Slim, you are a good money magnet!!!

Just a correction … – Queen Noor WAS NOT deprived from her title. She still holds her title as Queen.

It is nobody’s business but Queen Noor and Carlos Slim. They look nice together.
