I had to blink a couple of times when I read that India’s intrepid Internet daters were going barking mad for doggy dating. But then again it stands to reason: I mean, I for one wouldn’t date a guy my goldfish, Jemima, didn’t like.
Sites like PuppyLove.in and dateyourpet.co.in are going down a storm in India, helping canine lovers unite by finding a suitable match for their furry friends, which in turn hopefully leads to love with the “date’s” owner. Not to be sniffed it, if you ask me!

In an interview with Reuters, Mumbai-based Mekhala Lobo, founder of Date Your Pet and an MBA student, explained that canine compatibility isn’t as easy as it seems: “Believe me, in the dog world, finding a mate is next to impossible.” – She asserted.
Thankfully, the new wave of pet dating sites in the country is making it easier to find love for man, woman and beast. Members post photos and descriptions of their dogs, including their canine companions’ likes, dislikes, and a bit about their personality.
Sound familiar? I have to say, if you log on to any of these sites, you’ll find some surprising similarities with regular online dating for homo sapiens. Of course, there are no flirtatious or openly sexual allusions but there are some shameful double entrendres that might make you paws for thought.
